Power Plastics Limited, a manufacturer of cover solutions
and related products for the water & waste sector, has today announced a
formal partnership with SUEZ Air & Climate. The collaboration will see the
two companies advance their innovative cover technologies to capture and treat
greenhouse gases from wastewater treatment plants.
In 2023, the two companies started work on the design,
manufacture and implementation of a world-first odour control cover solution at
Severn Trent’s Strongford waste treatment works, in order to reduce levels of
Nitrous Oxide (N2O) emitted from the sludge tanks.
N₂O is one of the most potent greenhouse gases. At Severn
Trent’s Strongford Wastewater Treatment Works, we took a significant step
forward by combining SUEZ’s AirAdvanced® ActiLayer technology with Power
Plastics’ Odour Control Covers. This innovative project aims to reduce N₂O
using catalytic materials and sunlight-driven processes, paving the way for
future breakthroughs in sustainable solutions.
“Through our partnership with SUEZ Air & Climate, we are
leading the way in helping the global water industry tackling rising greenhouse
gas emissions” commented Phil Sellers, Technical Director at Power Plastics.
“By combining their AirAdvanced® ActiLayer with our world-class
Odour Control Covers, we provide clients with a robust solution that not only
restrict odour emissions and protects assets from the elements but also aims to
reduce N2O emissions entering the environment”.
The partnership has already extended its reach, with Power
Plastics and SUEZ working with two further UK water companies and trialling
solutions in the Middle East. Together, they are refining deployment options
for the AirAdvanced® ActiLayer, giving customers greater flexibility in
reducing and capturing greenhouse gases when installing Power Plastics’ Odour
Control Covers.
“By partnering with Power Plastics, we have the perfect
combination of world-class Odour Control Covers and advanced filter technology
to mitigate N2O emissions” added Craig Lewis, SUEZ
UK Air & Climate Manager. “The importance of AirAdvanced®
ActiLayer cannot be overstated. As the water industry faces growing pressure to
reduce its carbon footprint, developing innovative solutions like AirAdvanced®
ActiLayer clearly provides a pathway forward.”
